i recently discovered i like girls. this is hard because i am from a sikh family and i have certain commitments, but being lesbian is not one of them. i don't know what to do, do i tell my parents? they don't think being a lesbian is natural, so i just need some guidance because it's all a big mess right now.
I would like to start off by saying I in no way can relate to your experience, and I would like to apologize in advance if what I say offends you.
DO NOT TELL YOUR PARENTS ANYTHING (yet). Your preference is yours only, and telling anyone else may hurt you emotionally while you’re figuring all of this out. Go to someone who has your side not matter what (friend, cousin, councillor, etc) if you need to talk about things.
Unfortunately, no one can ‘help’ you with any of this. You need to feel and experience whatever it is you think is right. This is something that no one else should have any control over, and you should do whatever it is you want/need to do (as long as you are not hurting anyone else of course.)
The only thing I can tell you is what you are feeling is not wrong. You are entitled to feel however you want.
NO ONE can tell you otherwise.

I'm going to university in Sept and my parents want me to stay at home rather than move to a new city. They say it'll be much cheaper but I cant help but feel there's more to their reasoning, plus with tuition fees alone I'm going to be in so much debt anyway. I'm happy to stay at home but I do think I'll learn more about life and becoming independent and responsible for myself if I move away. Is it really worth upsetting anyone over? They're both fantastic & I'll have the same job prospects.
